This year we are seeing an increased incidence of flu cases throughout the country. Some of these cases of flu are the more traditional seasonal flu that we see annually in the cooler flu season and unfortunately this year we have seen the arrival of H1N1 which is usually referred to as “swine flu”. There will be vaccine available for the general public for the next couple of months to help with immunization against the seasonal variety of flu and companies are working very hard to get the vaccines ready for use against the swine flu virus. It seems that there may be some resistance to the virus in people who are over 65 years of age which is not the case with the more common seasonal variety of flu.
The CDC is recommending that all children from the age of six months to 5 or 6 years be given the vaccine as it becomes available. Pregnant women are also thought to be vulnerable and persons who have depressed immune systems or have respiratory problems are probably going to be more susceptible to swine flu.
Check with your family physician for answers to questions regarding either the swine flu vaccination or the immunization for the more traditional “seasonal flu.”

Personally….I would not do a flu shot…What I will do is take our immune and build my system up that way…I have already heard of some side affects of the swine flu shot…I want only all natural things going in my body…and it seems to be working for me…to keep my system in good shape….With the statistics out there of 120,000 people dying every year from side affects of synthetic drugs…I am going to chose another route…that was the ama that put that statistic out…is that about 3000 per day….I am appalled Janice
so do Boomers meet up anywhere in the valley?

I have been taking the flu immunizations for the last ten years now and I am very satisfied with the results. There are few serious problems and many people have been spared the troubles that are associated with the annual return of the “flu season”. I have to totally agree with you about reinforcing our own immune system so that we can better fight off the infections and diseases that bombard our bodies. There’s nothing better than fresh fruits and vegetables, plenty of rest and possibley a daily multivitamin. Please understand that there is a difference between vaccines and synthetic drugs. Synthetic drugs are the result of various chemical compounds that are combined to form a new drug that can be used for any variety of purposes and can have some very serious side effects. I try at all costs not to use any of the synthetics. Vaccines are made of naturally occuring biological agents that can protect against a particular disease. Although there are occaissional reactions to vaccines it seems that the benefits far out weigh the problems. If we have
a large number of people dying each year from synthetic drug use then it is essential that we evaluate the use of those drugs before submitting them to our bodies.
Sorry, I don’t know of any meetings being held by Boomers here in the valley.
